Columbus Region Transportation Infrastructure and Utilities
Investments in a highly-connected interstate highway system, rail connections to major seaports and air cargo routes to international hubs-all intersecting at the Rickenbacker Inland Port-give the Columbus Region a distinct edge on the efficient movement of goods.
By Road
Crossed by eight major interstate highways, the Columbus Region has easy southbound access through the Mid-Atlantic states to the Southeast. The Region's east-west corridors traverse the country from coast to coast and into the Rockies.
By Rail
The new Heartland Corridor allows double-stacked freight trains to travel directly from the Port of Virginia (Norfolk International Terminals) to a state-of-the-art intermodal facility located at Rickenbacker Inland Port in the Columbus Region.

The National Gateway Corridor provides the Region additional port connections in Baltimore and Wilmington, an advantage for gaining access to the global marketplace.
By Air
The Columbus Region currently supports a total of nine weekly international wide body freighter frequencies between Rickenbacker International Airport and premier air cargo hubs in Europe (Luxembourg), Asia (Hong Kong) and the Middle East (Dubai) plus extensive domestic integrated carrier activity on nearly 50 FedEx and UPS arrivals per week.
Rickenbacker Inland Port
Located 10 miles south of Columbus, Rickenbacker Inland Port is a high-speed international, multimodal logistics hub with an unparalleled location and access to customers throughout North America. Premier freight forwarders, consolidators, Customs brokers and third-party logistics providers support its tremendous base of air, road and rail transport companies.

Rickenbacker International Airport (LCK)
As one of the world’s only cargo-dedicated airports, Rickenbacker International Airport offers an uncongested option to move air cargo to, from and within the United States. The airport offers over 200,000 square feet of air cargo facility space, two parallel 12,000 foot runways and Category II Instrument Landing System for all-weather landing capabilities.
Foreign Trade Zone #138
Foreign Trade Zone #138, the 10th most active FTZ in the nation, encompasses all of the Columbus Region including Rickenbacker Inland Port and is legally considered outside of Customs territory, so goods may be brought into the site duty-free and without formal customs entry.
Marion Industrial Center
Marion Industrial Center operates an innovative intermodal yard via CSX. A premier logistical and cost efficient location with over 2,000,000 square feet of available storage space. The facility operates 7 days a week and give arrivals and departures 24/7 access for container traffic.
